I have received significant external contracts from Oak Rdige National Laboratory (ORNL), US Department of Energy (DOE), and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to
support research in power systems. So, three Graduate
Research Assistantship (GRA) positions are available starting from as early as Spring 2009.
Preference
will be given to Ph.D. applicants. An earned M.S. degree is generally
required for Ph.D. positions, however, outstanding candidates with B.S.
degrees only may be considered for direct Ph.D. positions. If
interested, please send me a copy of your latest resume which includes
your in-major courses, GPA, GRE score, TOEFL score (for international
applicants), and names of three references.
Also, I am seeking post-doctoral researchers or
visiting scholars in electric power engineering. Applicants
holding financial support from other resources are especially
encouraged to apply. I will offer a matching stipend up to $1500/month.
For all positions, previous
experience in one or more of the
following areas is required:
- distributed generation and distribution systems
- voltage stability and reactive power
- power system dynamic simulation
- power system visualization
- power markets
- utility application of power electronics
- power system protection and control.
